Reunion in Alola! Chapter 4

   “Ash! You found her! Good because the Principal wants everyone back at school right away. He said there’s someone at school you should see,” called Serena.
   “Coming, my queen! Come on Lillie, let’s go.” Ash offered his hand to Lillie.
    Lillie looked at his hand, then at him, then his hand again before picking up Snowy and accepting his hand. “Thank you.”
    Ash smiled at her before joining Serena at the edge of the beach. “Did Principal Oak say who it was?”
   “No he didn’t. He only told me that you’d want to see whoever it was.”
    A few minutes later, they all arrived at the school. As they came on campus, Serena noticed a blond haired boy dressed in black and red standing with an Umbreon at his side.
   “Who’s that,” Serena inquired.
    Ash responded saying, “Hey! That’s—”
    Lillie interrupted him, “Gladion! My big brother!” She ran over to him, put Snowy down and hugged him. “It’s so good to see you again!”
   Gladion gave her a brief hug and gruffly replied that he missed her too. When Lillie pulled away, Gladion noticed that she had been crying. “What’s wrong, Lillie?” His gruff expression softened into concern.
   As Lillie explained to Gladion what had happened, the concern in his face faded into the same gruff expression that he had arrived with.
   When Lillie was done explaining, Gladion nodded then turned to Ash. “I need to speak with you...privately.”
  “Ash, are you sure—” Serena started.
  “It’s fine, Serena. Gladion’s my friend. Can you stay with Lillie until we’re back?”
  “Yeah, sure.”
  “Thanks Serena,” he gives her a kiss on the cheek. “You’re the best.” He followed Gladion to a private place.
  Gladion then proceeded to yell at Ash saying, “How could you do that to Lillie?! You should have known better!1 Lillie is a sensitive person, as you should know by now! Remember when my mother was taken into Ultra Space and how upset Lillie was when Mother was gone?”
  “I remember,” was Ash’s quiet response. “The only reason I didn’t tell her was because I thought I’d be sparing her feelings by not telling her about Serena!”
  “Oh. I understand now. I’m sorry I jumped to conclusions.”
  “It’s all right. You’re just trying to look out for Lillie.” Ash held out his hand for a handshake.
  Gladion smiled and shook it. “We should head back to the others.”
  Ash nodded. “Yeah, let’s go.”
  While the boys had been talking, Serena was getting to know Lillie, asking all sorts of questions. Her first question, “Why did you decide to name your Vulpix 'Snowy'?” 
  “Well, when I was caring for it as an egg, I started calling it ‘Snowy’ because I had nothing else to call it.”2
   “You’ve had Snowy since it was an egg? Wow, that’s amazing!” Serena asked Lillie if she found it as it was hatching like Ash’s Noibat and Lillie said no because Principal Oak found it at the base of the Snowy Mountain Peaks.
   The girls continued exchanging stories until the boys came back. Then they all walked back to the school together talking and laughing.
